UAE Air Defenses Thwart Iranian Missile, Drone Assaults

(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates announced on Sunday that its air defense systems successfully countered missile strikes and uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) incursions originating from Iran.

According to the Defense Ministry, loud blasts reported across various areas of the country were linked to defensive actions, explaining that its systems neutralized ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.

The ministry further clarified that these explosions occurred as a direct consequence of interception measures executed mid-air.

Tensions across the region have continued to intensify since Israel and the US initiated a military campaign against Iran on Feb. 28, resulting in the deaths of over 1,300 individuals so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military bases. These strikes have led to casualties and infrastructure damage, while also unsettling global markets and disrupting aviation activity.
