Keolis MHI Inspires Youth Through Summer Internship Programme in Alignment with UAE ‘Year of Family’
DUBAI, DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, September 7, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Keolis MHI, the operator of the Dubai Metro and Tram, has successfully concluded its Summer Internship Programme 2026, which ran from August 3rd to August 14th, 2026. Welcoming 34 young family members of its employees, the program offered a comprehensive, behind-the-scenes look into world-class urban transit operations through two dedicated pathways: Next Generation Rail Leaders (Ages 16–20) and Metro Explorers (Ages 12–15). In alignment with the UAE’s national 'Year of Family' initiative, the company celebrated community and family values across its workforce while inspiring the next generation of transport professionals.
The Next Generation Rail Leaders program offers young adults aged 16 to 20 an immersive, two-week exposure to urban transit operations and management. In the second week, the curriculum shifts toward operational technicalities and broader cultural awareness. The track also incorporates a cultural tour of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library in Al Jaddaf, alongside guided visits and specialized workshops. The program concludes with a collaborative poster-making workshop.
Designed for younger participants aged 12 to 15, the Metro Explorers program delivers an engaging foundational journey into the world of mass transit. The initiative opens at Rashidiya Depot with a comprehensive induction covering Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards, security awareness, and social media protocols. Participants receive temporary identification, engage in a meet-and-greet with Learning & Development leadership, and build an essential understanding of safety and risk management across the network.
Throughout the first week, students explore core operational assets through guided theory sessions and onsite visits. Highlights include with an excursion to the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, and exclusive behind-the-scenes access to control centers and maintenance workshops. To consolidate their learning, participants design visual posters showcasing key railway concepts.
Vikas Sardana, Managing Director of Keolis MHI, said: "The UAE's Year of Family highlights the important role organisations play in supporting strong family and community connections. At Keolis MHI, we recognise that over 3,000 employees are not only transport professionals, but also parents, sons, daughters and spouses. Through initiatives like our Summer Internship Programme, we are proud to celebrate inclusion and care by welcoming our employees' children into the heart of our operations."
Shalini Taneja, Deputy Director - Human Resources at Keolis MHI, said: "This programme is about more than introducing young people to the railway industry. It is about inspiring curiosity, building confidence and helping them explore future career opportunities in transport, engineering and technology. By combining practical experience with mentoring from our teams, we hope to encourage the next generation of innovators who will contribute to the future of sustainable mobility in the UAE."
The programme concluded with a graduation ceremony celebrating the participants' achievements and recognising their successful completion of the curriculum with certificates of achievement.
